About my practice:
Naiomi graduated from the 3000-hour Massage Therapy program in Nelson, BC at the Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences. She has moved back home to Hubbards, NS after spending 10 years in British Columbia. She is excited to be home with family and on the coast to raise her daughter and become a part of the community once again. Bringing her new set of skills to help members of the surrounding communities.
She provides a patient centered approach to her treatments through individual assessment, treatment planning, selecting manual techniques, and choosing a self care plan that fits her patient's lifestyle and personal goals. Depending on the patient goals and preferences she tailors her treatment to the person on the table. Techniques range from relaxing Swedish massage techniques, myofascial release techniques, MET (muscle energy) craniosacral and visceral work and trigger point release techniques. Her practice is evidence based and trauma informed.
She has experience working with individuals dealing with chronic pain conditions, fibromyalgia, insomnia, PTSD, depression and anxiety. She has a particular interest in working with prenatal and postnatal clients, and those dealing with shoulder injuries. She has experience treating children and teenagers, making the massage experience feel fun and safe.
Naiomi has been practicing yoga for 20 years and has completed 600 hours of training in yoga instruction. In this practice she became intrigued with how physical movement can provide ease in the body and quiet the mind. It was always a goal to further her understanding of anatomy and therefor moving to study Massage Therapy was a natural next step.
Drawing from her yoga teaching background, she encourages a focus on the breath during treatments to guide patients into finding both deep relaxation and to promote the release of tension. Healing the body and mind is a multifaceted journey and as a Massage Therapist, Naiomi aims to provide space to facilitate patients to find ease in areas of tension and discomfort.
