Naiomi MacLean, RYT 500
Naiomi has been practicing yoga for 20 years and has studied the art of teaching yoga in many parts of the world. Through her studies she was always drawn back to how regular practice of the yoga postures can provide ease in the body and also quiet the mind.

Yoga Lineage and Training
Naiomi began her teacher training in Byron Bay, Australia, where the 200 hour program was focused on alignment based yoga with a lineage of Iyengar teachings. She moved back to Canada to Whistler, BC where she met Tina Pashumati James and found a home at Loka Yoga. In this time she developed a strong practice in Ashtanga yoga and explored Jivamukti yoga, where she learned the joy of practicing yoga with the tempo of music to guide the breath. She did a teacher training with Tina in Whistler and then later in India for advanced training in Ashtanga yoga, pranayama, mantra and Sanskrit studies. She both practiced and taught at Loka yoga for a number of years before it closed its doors in 2019. After completing her 3000 hours of study in Massage Therapy, she now is coming back to yoga teaching, excited to share the knowledge she has gained along the way.

Ground & Recharge
A 3 hour Yoga workshop with Melisa Kavanagh and Naiomi MacLean
Come join us for a 3 hour intensive workshop with a focus on foundations in standing postures. Dive deep into the warrior poses and explore the depth of finding stability and strength in your body and mind. Invite the energy of Spring in this grounding workshop. We will dive deep into the body, feeling the earth beneath our feet, the breath in our lungs, the voice in our throat, and the energy of our spirit. Explore your connection to breath with guided pranayama where we will focus on breath with asana, and also breath with stillness. Feel the effects of chanting mantras and how the stillness that follows can provide an inner calmness.
“Chanting brings healing at the cellular level, stimulates the nervous system and brain functions. It can be more efficient than asanas to balance the body and mind”
- Manju Jois
Melisa and Naiomi will be providing hands on assists throughout the class with the intention of allowing students to find a deeper realization of each pose, while feeling supported by the individual attention and gentle touch from a teacher. Hands-on assists are a teaching tool used (with consent from you - the student) to facilitate more stability, alignment and depth in your practice. As the class moves into savasana and resting postures, enjoy more hands on touch to bring you further into relaxation.
